General Info: The name apparently comes from the Sinhalese word "Turamali" which was given to mixtures of unidentified gem gravels in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).
Additional Information
A blue to blue-green variety of tourmaline, one of teh fancier colors and little more expensive. This shade of blue is called indicolite. The most expensive toourmaline is now "Paraiba tourmaline" and is more of a sky blue that looks a little like a day-glow color. It has traces of copper in its struture. Indicolite color likely comes from an iron impurity.

This is a better tan average native cut stone.
