General Info: |
Zoisite was named for the Slovenian noble, Sigmund Zois, a mineral collector. Thulite was named for Thule, a former name for Norway. It is the pink variety of zoisite, colored by the element manganese. |
Additional Information |
Thulite is a massive material not usual found in a crystalline form. It is found in Norway and Greenland as pinkish veins or stones. It has also been found in Alaska. The higher quality material is a bit translucent and darker in color. (Similar to the dark areas of the stones shown here.)
These stones cut by the author from better than average quality material but not the very best grade.
