The name Topaz is thought to be derived from the name Topazion, the old name for the island of Zebergit (St. Thomas Island) in the Red Sea. The Sanskrit word "Tapas" means "fire". |

| A mini-whirlpool cut stone (by author) from a small pale crystal found in Texas. It is sometimes called "guerro" topaz or even champaigne topaz if a bit lighter.
"mini" whirlpool refers to fewer facets but the same general pattern.
