The name is derived from the German "quarz" of uncertain origin. It was called "krystallos" by the Greeks, but this later became the generic term for crystal. |
Additional Information |
The windmill cut resembles the whirlpool cut with regard to light action. The design makes the light move in a circular pattern around the stone, but it is not a free flowing. The stone cut by the author. It has fewer facets and less "sparkle" so is somewhat better for darker stones. The design can be found in one of the Vargas books. |
