Agate (achates) was named from the river Achates, now the Drillo, in Sicily, where the stone was first identified. It is cryptocrystalline quartz (micro crystals) usually with a banded pattern (although not always). |
Additional Information |
This is one of the most sought after agate locales in the world. It comes from an area in the sate of Chihuahua, Mexico. It can be found in nearly all colors of the rainbow, and has excellent tight, clean banding. These cabs cut by the author. |
