General Info: |
From the Latin "fluere", "to flow" (because it was used in ancient times as a flux). Fluorite is often collected by mineral collectors for it's distinctive crystal shapes and excellent coloring. Veins of fluorite from China are unusually clear and now in use for carving and gem cutting. |
Additional Information |
Because fluorite has perfect cleavage in each axis direction and is fairly soft, it must be WELL protected in jewelry to survive. It is more of a "collectable stone" than a jewelry stone. |
