Found in a region of Russia, it is named for the nearby Charo River. The word "chary" in Rusian means "charms" or "magic", and it may also draw on this meaning becasue of its chatoyancy. |
Additional Information |
Charoite tends to be more of a rock than a pure mineral. It contains several secondary materials, that appear as black specks or streaks, and yellow to cream colored secondaries. The most desireable charoite has purple to magenta feathery structures. |
