Here is a closeup view of the camera head, and the microscope adapter,
connected to one ocular (Photo 3.). The camera lens fits into
a recessed area in one end of the adapter, and the ocular fits into a recess
in the opposite end. The lower recess was enlarged, (to fit
the ocular) by mechanical sanding. As supplied, the diameter was
3mm-4mm too small. (Special Note: when doing photography through a binocular scope using this camera configuration, it is useful to cover the second ocular to keep extraneous light from striking the sample. (This ocular-focused light can cause annoying highlights on shinny surfaces.) In the second image (Photo 4.), the camera is displayed with the electronic base, the 6 foot tether cord, and the camera head. Two additional c-mount lenses are displayed at the foot of the electronic base. The normal lens supplied with the camera is an 8mm lens (roughly equivalent to a 50mm lens on a 35mm camera). Additional lenses are available from the 3.8mm (very wide angle) to the 25mm (medium telephoto). The 8mm, standard lens, can be focused down to about 1/2 inch. |
